Pick it till it Bleeds
Melbourne based artist Pip Ryan’s practice explores themes that surround the uncanny and the absurb. Referencing humour and themes of horror within her practice, she is interested in how these two states of consciousness overlap. Ryan uses colour and humour to explore themes that are often dark and surreal.
Pick it till it Bleeds is a new series of works on paper and sculptures. Using fleshy forms and imagined creates, the show investigates ideas of humour, irony and the absurd. Pick it till it Bleeds examines a state of anxiety, an itch that can’t be scratched, a wound that is persistently interrupted by picking.
