Additional Info

Kate Rohde's artwork and functional pieces are jointly inspired by an intersecting love of natural history and the ornate decorative arts spanning several eras, including perhaps most notably the Rococo era.

Kate Rohde completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2001. Since then, she has become known for her jewellery and sculptural object based practice, working predominantly with resin and hand casting techniques. Notable recent exhibitions include '1001 Remarkable Objects’ Powerhouse Museum; 'Strange Nature’ Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery and 'In the Company of Morris’ at the Art Gallery of Ballarat in 2023; and in 2015 she was a finalist in the Rigg Design Prize at the National Gallery of Victoria.

Other projects include collaborating with major fashion houses Romance Was Born and Alpha60, as well as creating an installation for the Hermès Sydney store in 2023. Her work is held in the collections of several institutions including the National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of South Australia and Powerhouse Museum. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions at Pieces of Eight Gallery.
