Additional Info

Kate Rohde's artwork and functional pieces are jointly inspired by an intersecting love of natural history and the ornate decorative arts spanning several eras, including perhaps most notably the Rococo era.

Each vessel is crafted by hand and subject to slight variations between each piece. They can be used as sculptural and functional pieces.

Australian artist and craftsperson Kate Rohde is highly regarded for her jewellery and object-based practice, working predominantly with resin to construct often elaborate and baroque forms which draw from botanical, zoological and geological sources. Her intensely colourful jewellery and sculptural object-based practice has seen her exhibition on an international stage with recent exhibitions including Luminous Realms, a solo survey of her work since 2006 at Craft, Magic Object; the 2016 Biennial of Australian Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia, 21st Century Heide at Heide Museum of Modern Art, and Obsessed: Compelled to make, at the Australian Design Centre. In 2015 she was a finalist in the Rigg Design Prize at the National Gallery of Victoria.
