Additional Info

Madeleine Lesjak-Atton is an artist currently living and working on Wurundjeri land. Her practice focuses on drawing and mark-making.

Working almost exclusively in the studio, Madeleine looks to combine the multitude of physical impressions and references that inhabit the studio space. Having worked in several different studio spaces that are largely imparted by circumstance, Madeleine seeks out directions for drawing through the objects and architectural features that are immediately and persistently available. Her most recent series of works presents drawn references that have accumulated from time spent at Stockroom studio in Kyneton, a backyard shed in Clifton Hill and a second bedroom in Thornbury.

These references have been drawn, cut and layered in new expressions that tether these spaces together. By combining these drawn impressions, Madeleine hopes to track and recount a narrative of the charged relationship between an artist and an artist’s space.
