"My art practice is an exploration into sculptural forms influenced by architecture. Having practiced as an architect for over 20 years, it’s perhaps inevitable that my sculptures take on the spirit of a building or structure. I am intrigued by exploring structural ideas using clay slabs that are variously flat or curved with openings and profiles cut into the clay.

Just as clay likes to curve to form traditional vessels, I exploit that tendency to curve to form arches and barrel vaults, while openings cut into the slabs create windows. ‘Blingy St Mags’ was loosely inspired by the Art Deco design of St Mary Magdalen’s School in Trentham, dedicated in 1938."
