Advanced Sculpting and Resin Casting Techniques
Over a period of 6 weeks students will be able to design and build a small scale sculpture, approximately 15cm X 15cm x 15cm or less, using professional grade oil based clay similar to the medium used in the film and special effects industries. Participants will learn how to make a reusable silicone mould of their sculpture and then finally how to cast a polyurethane resin version of the participants clay sculpture that they can then finish, paint and keep.
In the 6 sessions Jud Wimhurst will be covering:
- An insight into his practice
- Materials and techniques
- Design and concept
- Construction and modelling techniques
- Silicone mould making
- Resin casting
- Cleaning up casts
- Finishing techniques
This course is intended for students who have low to moderate sculpture experience (i.e. have worked with clay before).
All materials and tools required will be supplied.
